Here’s where I tell you what this blog is about, why it exists, and how it will make you thinner, richer and happier.

Right. Well, at the moment, Random Says… is a place to share some writing, photography and other oddities. I say “at the moment” because as I improvise my way through the life of this blog, I’m sure its content and even structure will evolve.

I predict I’ll include writing on improv, our cats, our recent move to Ashland, singing bowls, wind harps, maybe even video games. I’ll keep you posted.

As a sort of experiment, I’m going to declare:

Story Start Mondays

Every Monday I will post a “story start.” Being a procrastinator, I start many stories but finish few. So, to save the story starts from sitting in limbo, I thought I’d post some and invite anyone who is so inspired to add on to the story. It could be a line, or it could a paragraph. Whatever furthers the story. Somehow.

It’s really for the little story starts. Help them fulfill their destiny.

(I should add that many of the story starts came out of writing exercises and freewriting sessions. I really don’t have any preconception as to where a story might go. In the past I’ve done some add-on stories with people that have gone on for pages, just alternating adds to the story. It can be a sort of “writing improv.”)
