So the weekend happened. I decided not to write the official Kreativ award post until after the weekend. Then it was Memorial Day. Now it’s Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Cindy Dwyer nominated me for the Kreativ Blogger award. (Thank you Cindy!)
As I started to answer the questions that are part of accepting the award, I got stuck on question number one. That’s when I realized I need more than one post to respond to the questions and random facts. As a starting point, here’s my answer to question #1:
1. What is your favorite song?
It’s impossible to name a single favorite. I’m indecisive, remember? Plus my “favorite” changes depending on the day, mood, the direction I’m facing, the phase of the moon, etc.
So, I get to answer by highlighting some favorites, old and new.
One band I think deserves more exposure is Paatos, a Swedish band I probably discovered on eMusic. Fortunately, there’s a decent recording of a live performance of “Hypnotique.”
Now, just to be contrary, I feel inclined to include an entry in the highbrow category. I hope I don’t come across as too snobbish by including this song by Touch and Go:
I don’t know why, but something about the beat of the lyrics just seems fun. Here’s another band that seems relatively unknown. Some of Miranda Sex Garden’s music is just luscious.
Just one more. One of my favorite bands of the 90s was Concrete Blonde. I love Johnette Napolitano’s voice. I think this video is one of the best to highlight that.
- Don’t worry. I do NOT plan on dragging out the award questions by only responding to one per day.
- I will try to avoid posting music videos often. Music taste is so subjective and I have no reason to think you will like any music I post. Except I thought you were a reasonable, discerning person who would of course like what I like. I guess not. Whatever. Sheesh. It’s like I don’t even know who you are.Wait, where was I? Oh yeah. I realize music is personal and I will only rarely expose you to my tastes. But, this time I was asked. Remember? Favorite song?
