Paul opened the small box and looked at five golden rings. Let’s see, he thought, the plain one for Nancy, putting it on and tucking the box safely away.
After a day with Nancy and the kids, it was time to move on. This time he selected the ring etched with “Paul & Diane Forever.” He spent two days with her, since their son was away at college and they could indulge their pent-up passion.
Next, adorned with the white-gold ring, he spent Christmas Eve with Eileen and their two daughters. For Christmas Day, he went to Marion’s and felt their baby kick for the first time.
With great regret, he took his leave. Reluctantly, he put on the final ring, the true ring, and awoke to his wife kicking and berating him. “Get up, you good-for-nothing loser.” With a groan, he got up.
Hmm… Maybe I should write these after more coffee. Anyway, that’s today’s BlogFestivus entry. Sorry.
