After four days on NanoWriMo, I’ve written 7,011 words. Of those, probably 6,523 are crap, but that’s okay. What’s funny is that, leading up to this year’s event, I kept asking myself what had possessed me to say I was even going to do NaNoWriMo this year. In fact, November 1st was halfway over before I even remembered it had started!
Many people plan some aspect of their story in advance, but I went into this without any idea what I would write. In fact, when the NaNoWriMo website prompted me for a title for the novel, I put Writing Blind because I didn’t have a clue. Yeah, I’m winging it. What else is new?
I’ve just been playing the game of “keep my fingers moving” and it’s been working. So far I have three story threads going. Well, four actually. I have an inkling of how these threads will connect, but already the story has thrown surprises at me, so who knows?
If you’re writing for NaNoWriMo, how’s it going for you?
